Family Heirloom.

My Grandmother stitched this table cloth and matching napkins when she was a young lady. I was the very lucky recipent when I married. My table isn't big enough to show it to its full beauty.

A closer up of the centre piece.

This is stitched in each corner.

This is stitched in middle of each side section and again on each napkin. Grandma has also crocheted the border around every piece as well.
GO GRANDMA and thank you. Not only for this beautiful tablecloth and napkins but also for helping foster my love of stitching.

Current Project - Peter Brock (R.I.P one year on)

I thought I might share with you all my current work in progress. My three boys have told me that they have out grown their birth samplers that I made them. I am also in trouble because I stitch for everyone else and not for them .... (sigh)
This one is for my eldest boy Mr J who is 14 1/2. He was, is and always will be a major Peter Brock fan. He wanted me to stitch him something new but couldn't find anything that he liked. I said, what if we had a photo of Peter Brocks racing car and had it charted, I could stitch that for him. He thought that was a fab idea and looked on the net for such a photo. The photos he found were always slightly blurred and he was getting discouraged. I went an email to the Peter Brock foundation and they very kindly sent 4 photos for us to pick from. This is the photo that he chose. We cropped the top off the photo from just above the tyre line. The finished design is 529 x 287 stitches on 28 count evenweave. I have finished the first panel and started on the second. There is a total of 8 panels. I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew!! Anyway, here it is..

This is in the centre of the fabric, but with the whole photo you don't see much.

Closer up of the driver and the car.

Closer up of the tyre wall. So this is what I am currently working on. I hope you like it. I will post photos every now and then so that you can see the progress.
